Dietary Provisional Laws from God

Hi Rai, your response is appreciated. We do understand that the Old Covenant is no different than the New Covenant. The only problem with the Old Covenant is that the children of Israel broke the covenant. If my old bottle of wine was broken, there was nothing wrong with the wine or the bottle, so I just have to go get a new bottle of wine. This is what Jesus did, made a New Covenant with the same children of Israel (Jeremiah 31 v31-33). Everything in the covenant remained the same (Hebrews 8 v7-13).

The clean and unclean separation was done before Moses and the children of Israel Rachel, so it is not ceremonial to Israel and the Old Testament, the animals have been sanctified (meaning set apart) by God since the beginning (see Genesis 7 v2, 8).

Where we seem to differ, is that you appear to only consider the distinction between Jew & Gentile as legitimate, as if the section prior to that regarding food is only a metaphor, unchanged and still in effect today. And if that's the case you, Damien McSwine, Rev. Joel Osteen and any others are certainly free to exercise your will and live accordingly!

I didn’t quite understand this paragraph by you Rai... my understanding of Jew and Gentile is that the Jew are a people and the Gentile are a people. They have/had different cultural practice and religious belief. But the Gentiles want and needed to adopt the spiritual religious practice of the Jew and that is what Cornelius was seeking from Peter. The Gentile (commonly known as our white/European brothers) were known to be without God in the world (Ephesian 2 v11-13). This is why Cornelius was seeking our brother Peter.

Rai, at the end of the day, we do what we believe we have to do. I admit all Old Testament scripture would be extremely hard to uphold; such as the cleanness and uncleanness of women during their menstrual, childbirth, and not eating newly planted trees for three years. There are many Christians who like to throw the hammer at others, but ignore the hammer swinging at them. We know we have those in the world.

We also know that Israel is not in its’ own nation any more...most people don’t even plant their stuff...they believe apples and oranges grow at the supermarket. But what we do know is that we can try. I understand a woman is unclean for 7 days of the month and to touch her is to make myself unclean, but look at the society we live in. Does this mean we don’t even try? That we break the 10 commandments, eat unclean foods, celebrate pagan holidays, etc.

I think it is time for real Christians to come together and try doing things according to the Bible. It does come down to love, humility, giving, but keeping of the commandments, the keeping of God’s ways will be the big pay off in the end (Revelation 22 v12-14).

Thank you for your side-note and reference; but I also did not come into this great dialogue with you from a position of confusion! I will use the reference Rachel, but this is the last thing I will point out...

God will consume those who disregard His Dietary Provisional Laws. At the coming of our Lord Jesus, He will consume a lot of disobedient people, but among those included are those eating abominable unclean foods (Isaiah 66 v15-17). The reason why is because what He wrote at the end of the chapter on the Dietary Provisional Laws; Jesus told us to be holy because He is Holy (Leviticus 11v43-47).

Jesus set a difference between clean and unclean to set a difference between His own and the worlds. The world eats the abominable unclean foods that God Himself set and made a difference on. If you eat it, being a Christian, what difference is there in you and the sinner. If you don’t keep the commandments as best you can, what difference is there between you and the sinner. If you said none, you are right.

Rai, I write all this out of love; I really hope to make you know that, just as I believe you wrote all you’re writing out of love for me to help me. I simply have to warn people who are about to drink poison, that they are about to do so; just as you are doing and we are doing it according to our beliefs and knowledge. So I do love you! I left the scriptures below.

And can you please show me where in Acts chapter 10 does it give you the inclination to think the dream or trance Peter was in referred both to man and food? Peter said that now he understood that he should not call any MAN common or unclean...not any animal or beast. I’d like to see how this referred to food also. Thank you!

Genesis 7

2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.

8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,

Jeremiah 31

31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Ephesian 2

11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Revelation 22

12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Isaiah 66

15 For, behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
16 For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many.
17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord.

Leviticus 11

43 Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby.
44 For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
45 For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
46 This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:
47 To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.
